Root smoothing treatment at the Dental Clinic in Murcia Dávalos & Balboa.

Subgingival tartar is one that is under the gum and that can be removed through scraping and smoothing or also called Dental Curettage.

In the Scraping and Radical Smoothing what is done is to scrape the surfaces of the root of the teeth through some elements and tools called Curettes.

 CURETAJE

Dental cure goes beyond simple dental hygiene. It is a treatment to eliminate and control periodontal disease.

It is indicated for the treatment of plaque and tartar accumulated below the gum or subgingival line.

Subgingival tartar is the one below the gum, attached to the root of the tooth. Along with this tartar, infected granulomatous tissue is also found. If tartar and infected tissue are not removed, it can lead to dental mobility, gum recession and bone loss.

Gingivitis and periodontitis affect the gums and the structures that support the tooth. If we can not stop these diseases, it is possible that in the most serious cases, the loss of dental pieces can occur.

The Curettage aims to eliminate tartar and palca bacteria accumulated below the gum line and that is causing periodontal disease.

How is the Curetajes treatment process?

The treatment of Curetajes is divided into 4 quadrants. Why?

In this way, being a long treatment, we avoid excessive discomfort to the patient. Therefore, our specialist Dr. Balboa, performs the treatment, usually, in two sessions, treating two quadrants in each session.

Thus, each quadrant corresponds to one side of the mouth.

The quadrants are:

Upper right.

Upper left.

Lower right.

Lower left.

After a thorough oral and radiological examination, our specialist Dr. Balboa will assess the extent of the involvement. This technique is performed under local anesthesia, always performed by the specialist in dentistry, in this way we avoid the patient any discomfort arising from the treatment.

Next, we will proceed with the treatment of Scraping and Radical Smoothing through sessions, usually 2, with ultrasound or dental curettes, which are manual instruments that allow access to the space between the gum and the tooth, reaching the bottom of the bags periodontals

After cleaning the supra and subgingival tartar with ultrasound, we proceed to clean the subgingival tartar and the affected tissues with curettes.

Then we use some strawberries called Perioset in order to smooth, polish and finish cleaning the treated dental surface.

Ending the treatment, in cases that require it, with Chlorhexidrine antiseptic for dental use.

INDICATORS OF SUFFERING PERIODONTAL DISEASE

• If you have bleeding when brushing your teeth or eating any food.
• Swollen gums.
• Your gums are a more intense and bright reddish tone.
• If you notice mobility in any dental piece.
• Excess of tartar accumulated in your teeth.
• Halitosis (bad breath).
